Karl is a journalist who has written for national newspapers, newswires and magazines in Australia, the US and the UK.

He works as a reporter for Climate Home and is the commissioning editor for the Guardian’s elephant conservation page.

He is the only journalist to have infiltrated Australia’s refugee system on Nauru since the tiny nation closed its borders to journalists in 2014. And he has reported extensively on climate change from across the world.
